Do you ever feel like you are being attacked unrelentlessly? Like Satan just has it out for you?
I do. More often than I like.
Do you feel like you are just going day after day of difficult times?
It’s during these times…
where we feel like all the world is against us that we have a choice to make: to press into God and say “I trust You,” to throw our hands up and say “I give up,” or to walk away and say “I don’t believe You are who You say You are.” These trials and tribulations are difficult, and sometimes they seem like they are never ending. Job felt that way. He was a godly man and suddenly everything was taken from him, and at times it seems that way or us too.
I’ve been there several times. I guess you could say, I hadn’t learned my lesson the first time. For Job it wasn’t about a lesson so much as it was God testing him to see if he really and truly trusted God. God was proving that Job was a dedicated servant to Him. He was growing him.
These troubles we got through
sometimes it’s because God is trying to show us that we have made an idol of something in our lives, so He is removing it from us. Other times, He is growing us and transforming us. I like to call these times “growing pains,” because they are painful!
But you know what…
We come out ten times stronger and wiser;and see that we need God in our lives and it deepens our trust in Him. We learn our strengths and our weekness. And we learn to lean into God for strength and support in our weakest moments.
So, instead of turning your back to God, or throwing your hands in the air, during this tough season, stop and ask, “How can I grow through this? What is God teaching me and how can I learn to trust Hiim more?”
